The much-anticipated consecration ceremony at Ayodhya’s Ram temple on January 22 has prompted an intricate web of security measures to ensure a smooth and secure event. The grand affair, expected to attract a massive gathering of devotees and dignitaries, has transformed Ayodhya into a spiritual fortress, resonating with a palpable sense of devotion and security.

Ayodhya’s streets and corners are now under the watchful eye of a network comprising 10,000 Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras strategically positioned throughout the district. This technological backbone forms the crux of the security arrangements, offering continuous surveillance to monitor the movements of attendees and law enforcement alike. Adding a touch of modern sophistication, some of these CCTV cameras are powered by Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology, amplifying their ability to keep a vigilant eye on the bustling city.

The visible presence of police personnel, including those from the Uttar Pradesh Anti Terrorist Squad (ATS), is unmistakable in key areas like Dharampath, Rampath, the Hanumangarhi vicinity, and Asharfi Bhavan road. Patrolling has become a familiar sight, underscoring a commitment to maintaining order and safety. Policemen, equipped with multilingual skills, operate incognito, seamlessly blending into the crowd to augment the efficiency of the security apparatus.

Efforts to regulate traffic flow, particularly during Very Very Important Person (VVIP) movements, have materialized through the strategic placement of movable barriers adorned with barbed wires at crucial intersections across the city. This proactive traffic management approach ensures the seamless progression of events in the lead-up to and during the ceremony.

Director General (DG) of Law and Order, Prashant Kumar, has emphasized the historical significance of the ‘pran pratishtha’ ceremony, shedding light on the comprehensive security measures in place. Security coverage spans the entire red zone, yellow zone, and Ayodhya district, providing a comprehensive protective shield for the proceedings.

Beyond ground-level security, the banks of the Saryu River have witnessed an increased presence of security forces. Collaboration with the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) teams enhances law enforcement’s capabilities to respond swiftly to any unforeseen circumstances.

In a statement, DG Prashant Kumar emphasized coordination efforts with various agencies. Stringent checks at international and inter-state borders are underway to preempt potential security threats. Drones are set to play a pivotal role in crowd control, showcasing a proactive approach to managing the flow of attendees during the event.

As Ayodhya prepares for this historic occasion, the collaborative efforts of law enforcement agencies, the integration of technology, and meticulous planning stand as a testament to the commitment to the safety and security of all involved. The ‘pran pratishtha’ ceremony transcends mere religious significance; it represents a momentous occasion that harmoniously blends tradition and modernity, with security taking center stage. The measures undertaken ensure that the spiritual sanctity of the event aligns seamlessly with the imperative of public safety.
